More than 85% of colleges students use social networking sites. Chances are that you have a Facebook account and you've signed on today. Social networking sites provide previously impossible communication and interconnectedness between individuals scattered across the globe. Social networking sites continue to experience rapid usage growth, providing millions of individuals with the ability to communicate, interact and share information. While there are many positive uses of such technology, social networking has its downsides as well. Participation in social networking activities can expose you to a variety of risks, including embarrassment, cyber-bullying, identity theft, and access to inappropriate content. Social networking can also be addicting, drawing you away from more productive, "real life" activities and relationships.
